com/125037 The Career Development Office at Bard College seeks a Pre-Professional Health (PPH) Career Advisor.
The PPH Career Advisor will advise students about pre-health programs, requirements and opportunities and provide job search support for Bard students and alumni pursuing health professions.
This is a full-time, in-person, exempt position reporting to the Director of Career Development.
While working in partnership with academic advisors at the College, the PPH Career Advisor will provide early and general career advising as part of the Career Development Office team.
The PPH Career Advisor helps students assess their interests and aptitudes and will recommend appropriate academic courses, facilitate opportunities for students to gain relevant professional experience, and support students through the application process for professional schools.
The PPH Career Advisor also offers programming and events on and off campus for current and prospective students, oversees the Pre-Health Advising budget, and works with faculty, staff, and other campus and community partners in support of the personal, academic, and professional development of pre-health students.

Essential Duties Provides advising and mentoring by:

Providing individual advising, mentoring, and coaching for students on career-related topics in the health professions along with early and general career advising as needed.

Designing and delivering group advising sessions/workshops targeted at pre-health students.
Additional programming and general advising will be included as determined by the Career team.

Providing guidance in finding clinical, volunteer and leadership experience and assisting students with the application process in collaboration with the Writing Center.

Serving as staff advisor to pre-health student organizations, as deemed appropriate per targeted student populations, by mentoring officers and assisting in planning events.
Coordinates recruiting and marketing by:

Leading recruiting and marketing efforts for pre-health and other pre-professional pathways on campus.

Developing and implementing a comprehensive, college-wide marketing/recruiting plan that includes informational/promotional materials and student communications (letters, emails, brochures, web site, and other electronic media).

Collaborating with the Admission Office to coordinate meetings with prospective students and their guardians.

Meeting with students and hosting presentations on campus and at regional, off-campus recruiting events (approximately 3-4 per academic year) as budget allows.
Coordinates events, teaching and administration by:

Overseeing development and implementation of a pre-health peer mentor program.

Collaborating with local organizations and institutions to establish opportunities for experiential learning for pre-health students and facilitating information sessions for professionals from regional professional schools that are of high interest to Bard students.

Annually assessing the needs/trends for pre-professional tracks including but not limited to the health professions program.

Maintaining a database of current students and alumni, and monitoring success of graduates in admission to professional and graduate school.
Ensures professional development and growth by:

Building and maintaining professional knowledge in each health professions field, including relevant admission standards and policies.

Maintaining membership in professional associations as budget allows.

Maintaining professional networks on and off campus.

Attending professional conferences (WAAHP and NAAHP) as budget allows.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree
Experience delivering student-centered programs
Experience presenting information clearly and concisely to a diverse audience
Extensive knowledge of the health professions Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree
Experience with health-professions advising in higher education
Experience managing programs
Proven excellence in public speaking skills

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
